From the front, our house looks fairly unassuming, with a pretty front garden, and an easily-accessible driveway. But once you are inside, you will see that the house is really huge! Even the entrance lobby is a room in itself with an armchair. It used to be our piano room. There is a large utility room with loo/toilet and large washing machine and tumble drier. A lovely large lounge that opens out with French doors onto the deck and hot tub. The stairs are so easy to use, and open out onto the wide landing, with an armchair.
The master bedroom is very big with vaulted ceiling and a SUPER KING SIZE BED, a balcony and its own en suite bathroom. Two more large bedrooms each with with 2 zip ‘n link beds making up a SUPER KING SIZE BED. Then the 4th bedroom with a double bed. Then the 5th bedroom with King Size bed. All the bedrooms, and indeed all of the house is filled with light. A bright house. Downstairs there is a large Farmhouse-kitchen, with a long oak table where you can all eat together.
Almost the whole of the far wall of the farmhouse kitchen opens out with folding sliding doors onto the massive deck, where you have a comfortable octagonal dining area, a wonderful sunken hot tub for 8 people comfortably, 3 wide steps to the huge lawn where you can play badminton, and small ‘woodland areas’ where kids can play hide ‘n seek.
There is also a very big log cabin (the Barn) with a mezzanine floor, and a pool table, full-size table tennis table and a rowing machine (not a full gym, please note). In the far corner of the garden is a scaled-down version of an Australian Queenslander-style house (the Lodge), which is fully insulated. Eventually, it will become a self-contained Lodge. For now, it is an interesting place to enjoy looking at and from there you can view the whole garden.
You will be able to access the whole of the property, except for the loft, Lodge and store room. In the future, the Lodge will be available for holistic events like meditation and healing, and also massage. We also intend to create a sauna in the garden. Please remember that when you are there, the house is yours, so please keep some TLC for the house-plants? Thanks so much!
We have done our best to make Fieldgate as guest-friendly as possible, but please remember that the huge deck is made of real timber, and that can be a little slippery when wet, so please look after yourselves…..
